My past 3 months of blogs expand on the bigger meaning of "Living Lightly." It's not just giving things away and reducing clutter but also evaluating the intangible parts of living simply. There are at least 2 sides of most of these topics. For example:
- Taming Time - Hoarders save too much, but saving time can be virtuous. On the plus side, more time can free us to do more of what's important OR the down side is that it can become a compulsion. Take your pick.
- Obsolete Books - Books are a blessing and a necessary tool, except when they aren't. (another 2 sided coin)
- Keep It Simple - When your're too exhausted to do conscientious recycling, do this instead.
4 Solar Saving Principles - BUT, when you are ready to tackle the big "recycling energy" tasks, check out our recent experience.
- Happiness - Happiness can be an elusive experience. Sometimes getting something new can bring happiness. Sometimes letting go of clutter can do it. But what brings long term happiness? Here are some ideas to help you reflect on what triggers your own happiness and what are just temporary delusions.
I welcome your comments on any of these blog entries. I'm curious as to what each of you think and how you deal with these topics.
Fondly,
Susan
