MARRIAGE MOMENTS*
954. Sept. 6: Sept. 8 is Grandparents Day. You may not be a parent or grandparent yourself, but you each have grandparents. Even if they are no longer alive, share one positive memory of them with your beloved. Do you have a quality or talent you learned from them?
955. Sept. 13: Are you in a 'mixed marriage'? Often this term has been used for Catholic/Non-Catholic marriages but it could mean mixed races, mixed classes, mixed ethnicities. or even mixed technology (PC vs MAC). How has your life been enriched by the difference your spouse brings?
956. Sept. 20: 'Where do the conflicts among you come from?' (James 4:1) - Jealousy, fatigue, fear, misunderstanding... There are many sources but more important is to search for reconciliation, mercy. We all have our faults. Is there anything I need to ask forgiveness for from my beloved this week?
957. Sept. 27: 'You rich, weep and wail... You have lived on Earth in luxury and pleasure...' (James 5:1-5) Most of us do not think of ourselves as really wealthy. There's always somebody richer. It usually depends on who we compare ourselves to. This week notice who is poorer than you. Do something about it.
*Marriage Moments go out to individuals on Mondays. For Sunday bulletins use the Sunday immediately before the above date.
PARENTING POINTERS*
953. Sept. 3: Clutter can be toys, papers, or many misc. items left on the floor or table. But clutter can also be noise. Think TV, videos, crying, complaining. Try treating your family to a moment, a minute, an hour of quiet. Agree to do it all at the same time. See what happens.
954. Sept. 10: Twenty years ago, on 9/11/01, terrorists attacked NYC and Washington DC. How old were you? If your children are old enough, share your experience of how you felt. Are there things that frighten them today? Remember that brave people in one of the four planes sacrificed their own lives to save unknown future victims.
955. Sept. 17: 'Taking a child, Jesus placed him/her in the [disciples'] midst.... Whoever receives one child in my name, receives me.' (Mark 9:36-37) Think of one thing you have learned from your child.
956. Sept. 24: Next Monday, Sept. 27 is 'Eat Dinner Together Day.' Maybe you usually do this anyway. Good. If not, take heed. The Natl. Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse says that one habit of healthy families is that they 'eat dinner together most every night.'

*Parenting Pointers go out to individuals on Fridays. For Sunday bulletins, use the closest Friday.
