Dear Friends,
My journey into living more lightly has taken me beyond giving away tangible 'things' like clothes, household goods, and money to letting go of intangibles like time, memorabilia, online clutter, etc. I now continue my Spring blog summary of intangibles by focusing on letting go of undesirable attitudes that flow from pride or selfishness. They may not clutter my home but they weigh down my spirit. For example:
Letting Go of Control--Being responsible is good, BUT when does it bleed into being over-responsible? How can we discern the difference? Practice forgiving myself for the inevitable mistakes I make in life.
Purging for a Cause--I throw this one in lest all this intangible stuff become just too heavy and emotional to handle. Sometimes another’s project gives us an easy way to give away extra stuff around the home. Welcome the opportunity.
Too Many Words--Words are important, BUT being too wordy can cloud the main message. Remember: when a verbal message conflicts with a non-verbal message (tone, facial expression, or action) the non-verbal message is stronger.
Let Go of Trivial Judgments--This post allowed me to vent some of my pet peeves so I could let go of them and move on to more important causes that warranted outrage with evil.
To Make Room for Constructive Judgments--Although I haven't totally rid myself of petty annoyances, trying to let go of the trivial stuff has made space to focus more energy on the important stuff. I suggest 7 steps to making positive changes in our world.
Please leave comments on my blog about how you deal with these life issues. Together, we're a genius.
Fondly,
Susan
PS: I’ve been pruning the right hand column of my blog posts by moving many old posts to relevant categories on my home page. Many of the intangible ones like ATTITUDES end up in Beyond Stuff.
