Since 1968, Population Connection (formerly Zero Population Growth or ZPG) has been America’s voice for population stabilization—the largest grassroots population organization in the United States, with over 40,000 members, and hundreds of thousands more supporters and participating educators!

Population Connection advocates for universal, affordable access to birth control, educates tomorrow’s leaders about global population challenges, and mobilizes Americans who care about stabilizing population. They strive to achieve a sustainable balance between people and our planet.

John has been a guest lecturer at more than 50 colleges and has spoken to numerous environmental, religious, and community groups all across the U.S. on the environmental and human costs of rapid population growth. Seager was appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by the Clinton Administration and also served as Chief of Staff for U.S. Representative Peter H. Kostmayer (D-PA), a senior member of the House Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee. A veteran of more than 50 political campaigns, Seager has authored numerous op-eds and articles on various aspects of population growth. Seager holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

Tom’s classic is “The Mustard Seed Conspiracy.” His other books include “The New Conspirators: Creating a Future One Mustard Seed at a Time” (2008); “Mustard Seed vs McWorld: Reinventing Life and Faith for the Future” (1999); “Cease Fire: Searching for Sanity in America’s Culture Wars” (1995) and “Live It Up! How To Create A Life You Can Love” (1993). Together he and Christine co-authored “Living On Purpose: Finding God’s Best for Your Life” (2002).

At the Mustard Seed House, he’s known as Research & Hospitality Guy. Tom and Christine live in an inter-generational community in Seattle.

Tom earned his Ph.D. at the University of Washington. Tom headed up a development project in Haiti for World Concern, taught at the University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University and at Fuller Seminary in Seattle. Tom also works to help Christian organizations develop a holistic theology of mission and speaks widely at colleges, churches, and missions conferences around the world.

Walter Brueggemann is surely one of the most influential Bible interpreters of our time. He is the author of over one hundred books and numerous scholarly articles. He continues to be a highly sought-after speaker.

Brueggemann was born in Tilden, Nebraska in 1933. He often speaks of the influence of his father, a German Evangelical pastor. Brueggemann attended Elmhurst College, Eden Theological SeminaryUnion Theological Seminary, earning the Th.D. under the primary guidance of James Muilenburg. He also earned a Ph.D. in education at St. Louis University.

Brueggemann has served as faculty at two institutions in his career: Eden Theological Seminary (1961-1986) and Columbia Theological Seminary (1986-2003). He is currently William Marcellus McPheeters professor emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia.

Originally a strong supporter of Israel and its Biblical claims, Brueggemann later repudiated Israel for its exploitation of “ancient promises” to create a “toxic ideology,” and now affirms his belief that it is not anti-Semitic to stand up for justice for Palestinians.
