The Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cooperative culture.

FIC believe that intentional communities are pioneers in sustainable living, personal and cultural transformation, and peaceful social evolution. “Intentional communities” include ecovillages, cohousing, residential land trusts, income-sharing communes, student co-ops, spiritual communities, and other projects where people live together on the basis of explicit common values.

Since beginning in 1987, FIC goes about its work in a number of ways, including the Communities Directory, Communities magazine, Community Bookstore, community-focused Events, Classifieds, the Blog, and more.

FIC’s passion is promoting cooperative culture and sustainable living. That means providing the information and inspiration for those seeking community, forming communities, struggling with the challenges of community, and those who want to develop a greater sense of community where they are.

However community touches your life, FIC’ll try to help you find what you’re looking for. In turn, you can help by becoming an FIC member.

Change starts with you. You create transformative change when you share learning, stories, and challenges with your community, whether on the bus, in the pew, at class, or at work. Create your community of change. See MORE. Contact Mike at 503.227.2807.

Ep. 47 -Susan Stephenson, Exec. Dir. of Interfaith Power and Light: A Religious Response to Global Warming … America’s faith communities lead the way on slashing climate pollution, e.g., Cool Congregations Challenge and Take the Paris Pledge. Read Susan’s bio.
The mission of Interfaith Power & Light is to be faithful stewards of Creation by responding to global warming through the promotion of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. This campaign intends to protect Earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all Creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all.
Interfaith Power and Light is a sterling example of the Living More with Less Life Standard “Cherish the Natural Order.”
President and Founder of IPL, The Rev. Canon Sally G. Bingham, is lead author of Love God Heal Earth, and recipient of Audubon Society’s Rachel Carson Award for her environmental leadership.
Ep. 46: Jared Brock
My wife and I run a charity to fight human trafficking. I recently completed a 37,000 mile pilgrimage around the world – I danced with rabbis, walked on coals, went to North Korea and Westboro, visited monks, and even gained an audience with Pope Francis. (My recently published humorous memoir about the trip.)
A few years ago, my wife and I took the 100 Things challenge. Today, we live in a 1975 Airstream trailer in a forest. We’re carbon neutral, don’t own cell phones, I’m a vegetarian, and we’ve traveled to over 40 countries in six years of marriage. Lots of fun stories to tell!
